My Story
About us
In October 2024, my daughter Eva was at a gymnastics competition, she collapsed whilst competing. She was taken to Alder Hey hospital, and was diagnosed with 2 rare heart conditions. She has Wolfe-parkinson-white syndrome and Long QT syndrome. It's almost unheard of to have both. Since being diagnosed, she has has two hospital admissions, a further collapse, and a heart operation which was unsuccessful due to its complexity. She has a cardiac monitor implanted to keep a constant check on her. She is currently unable to compete at gym, run with her friends or do PE at school. For such an active child, this has been incredibly tough for her. We are hoping for further treatment options in the future, but at the moment she's a bit of a head scratcher! As long QT is hereditary, me and her mum were tested, and my wife also has long QT syndrome. As I am the least fit out of all of them, this is the least I can do to support them and to thank Alder Hey for everything they have done and continue to do for Eva.
