My Story

Why Adoption Matters?

When I was 4 years old, I was adopted. Although I never really realised, the support that we had as a family when I was going through school was incredible. I've only really recently started to properly process my adoption as an adult, and when I looked into Adoption Matters as a charity to run for, it immediately felt right. 

What your donation can do:

  • £5 will pay for refreshments for a child attending a Centre for Adoption Support Choir session
  • £35 could fund activity materials for use within a Theraplay support package
  • £100 could provide a virtual therapeutic consultation session for any memeber of an Adoption Matters family with an adoption professional
  • £400 could fund materials for Life Story work for children along with a session with adoptive parents to share the work (I have a Life Story book and this is an incredibly helpful resource to help understand your adoption story)
  • £1,000 could provide a package of intense support for families during times of crisis

About The Great Manchester Run

The AJ Bell Great Manchester Run is the biggest and best running event in the North West. Starting and finishing in the heart of the city, runners soak up the amazing Manchester spirit the whole way round & pass iconic landmarks on their journey to the finish line.

It’s not all about the adults, the AJ Bell Junior & Mini Great Manchester Run give the kids a chance to experience that finish line feeling, earn a special medal & raise money for good causes.
