My Story

Hey everyone! I’m Jowita Przystał, a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, and I’ve always been an animal lover—probably something I got from my dad. Especially when it comes to dogs. I had my rescue dog, Frodo, with me and my parents for 21 years. We found him when he was just one year old, so I basically grew up with him. Losing him was incredibly hard for me and my family.

Last year, I had the pleasure of visiting Dogs Trust in Basildon, and it was one of the most beautiful, yet emotional, days of my life. I met some fantastic dogs, but also an amazing team who care for them every day and fight for their better lives. Those women are true superheroes. Their love and dedication to those dogs is incredible.

Since that day, I’ve felt like part of the family. I know it’s not much, but I want to do what I can to help, raise awareness, and—like Pete Wicks says—be a voice for the voiceless.

That’s why I’m running the 10K Great Manchester Run for Dogs Trust. It’s my small way of giving back to a cause so close to my heart.
